Hey Gabby Cats!
Last week we released the first wave of our newest Nex Playground preschool game —Gabby’s Dollhouse: A-meow-zing Moves. We’re so excited to have Gabby and her paws-sitive world join the Play Pass lineup.
However, we know this game, with its 2-room release and TV remote difficulties, didn’t meet everyone in our community’s expectations (see the letter from our CEO, featured below, for more details on these matters).
So we’re taking a few notes from Gabby’s wonderful show. We understand the frustration some of you have felt and we’re truly sorry this game isn’t the experience you were expecting…yet.
The good news — your TV’s remote should now be able to start and control the game. And we promise, there’s a lot more meow-gical play to come.
Learn more about the planned Gabby’s Dollhouse updates below.
We have new rooms and more Gabby cats, coming in three content drops throughout Spring. Here’s what you can expect:
Gear up for active fun when Carlita and Pillow Cat join the game.
Enjoy colorful crafts and sweet beats with Baby Box and DJ Catnip.
Get ready for a Sprinkle Party! Cakey will be cooking up a good time in June.
We can’t wait to bring more meow-gical fun to your homes this Spring. 😻
Are you wishing you didn’t have to wait so long for the fun? We totally get it. It can feel like a long wait, especially for your youngest kiddos.
The Nex Playground team is always learning and hoping to improve — and this game launch was definitely a learning moment.
Here’s a letter from the CEO sharing our misses and fixes, and how we hope to improve the Playground experience in the future:
A Letter from our CEO
We hear you. The launch of Gabby’s Dollhouse: A-meow-zing Moves missed our bar in two key areas.
Miss #1: TV remote cannot start the game
This was a QA oversight. Nex Playground supports the HDMI-CEC standard, allowing TV remotes to control Playground, but this feature was broken for this game. (Note: The Nex remote works as expected.)
Fix: Our QA team quickly identified the bug and deployed a hotfix on Friday, Feb 28, within two days of launch. We’ve also put new processes in place to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
Miss #2: The launch content is too thin
Our plan to regularly roll out new rooms with new games and activities should have been more clearly defined, and we understand why the launch content felt disappointing.
Fix: Going forward, we’ll ensure new games launch more traditionally with a fuller experience — especially for preschool titles, where young kids’ patience is still developing.
We appreciate your feedback and are committed to doing better.
